Welcome New Readers

For those of you visiting from Fox News, welcome to my front porch on the Internet. This is a place where we celebrate the quirky, wonderful world of the South. So grab a glass of sweet iced tea and enjoy reading some of my past blog entries.

Pictured at right is newly retired Atlanta Journal-Constitution Editor Don Boykin. He’s a veteran marathon man and is training for a triathalon. I had the pleasure of running with him at the Baptist Press Student Journalism Conference in Nashville.

It was a blessing to hang out with Don and Lynn. They are active members of New Hope Baptist Church and are very involved in international missions.

Hey there…I just read your story on Fox News…totally impressed with your determination. I have a love-hate relationship with running. I have run one marathon and three 1/2 marathons and other races in between. My marathon was a little different than yours, as I ran mine in San Diego in 2001 and the weather was perfect (big surprise)!

Sounds like you will finish strong, but you will probably be thinking at about mile 20, “Why am I here? What was I thinking?” But you will feel great when you cross the finish line…it is well worth it! Here’s to great weather and even better running!
