Off the Campaign Trail

I’m taking a few days to enjoy life off the campaign trail. I’m attending the Baptist Press Student Journalism Conference in Nashville. It’s my favorite time of the year. We have about 150 journalism students from Christian colleges and universities across the nation. They are here for a weekend of worship, workshops and competition. It’s been great to hang with friends like Terry Mattingly from Scripps Howard, Sterling Chen from the Philadelphia Inquirer, and of course the great photogs — Morris Abernathy, Jim Veneman, Bill Bangham and Bob Carey.

And the college kids here love, love, LOVE Fox News. I’ll be posting some photos later — lots of talented students here and fun kids, too. Last night we piled 19 people into a 15 passenger van for a late night taco run at the San Antonio Taco Company.

And this morning, I hosted an early morning run with some students from Liberty University and Gardner Webb University. We raced down Church Street to Centennial Park — we made a u-turn at the local Krispy Kreme for a mid-run break. Hey — the red light was on — and you can’t pass up fresh Krispy Kreme donuts.

Tonight, we’ll be competing in a dodgeball tournament. I hope Ben Stiller isn’t in town.

Hey! I got a mention on Fox News. How cool. It was good being with you too, Todd. Hope you have some down time after tonight … and by the way: Did you get a birthday cookie on the Obama plane?
