100,000 Strong!

It was one of those one-in-a-lifetime, breathtaking moments on the campaign trail. And it turned out to be history-making for Senator Barack Obama.  Around 100,000 people came to his St. Louis rally. There was a sea of people from the Arch to the old state capitol. Here’s photo I snapped:

    Strange irony. Of course this is the site of many events, but in the 1980’s I was a young aspiring journalist and covered a pro-life rally at this very spot sponsored by Missouri Citizens for Life. The story and a very large photo made the front page, above the fold of a daily Missouri newspaper – my first published story.

    The irony is the issue. One of Sen. Obama’s campaign promises that I believe is largely unknown among many is his pledge that on entering office is to immediately sign into law legislation legalizing partial birth abortion and funding for it and expanding funding for elective abortion.

    So, seeing this picture was a jolt.
