Christmas Trees Banned at College Library
The lobbies of two libraries at the University of North Carolina are lacking a bit of holiday cheer. The two Christmas trees that are normally displayed there have been banished — and you can blame it on political correctness.
The Charlotte Observer is reporting that librarians censored the display because employees complained.
Sarah Michalak, the associate provost for university libraries, told the newspaper: “We strive in our collection to have a wide variety of ideas. It doesn’t seem right to celebrate one particular set of customs.”
You might recall that UNC is a public university that once required its incoming freshmen to read a book about the Koran. (Ahem)
This is complete B.S., yes it is a public university but Christmas is an american custom. Last time I checked NC is still and American state.
I am sick and tired of people killing our customs to to accomadate others. This is a sad day for our country!!!
America has always celebrated Christmasand we should not have to bend over backwards to accommodate others just because we are afraid of offending someone. I am offended of what they are doing to his great country of ours and we (especially Christians) should stand up and not and not take this crap any longer. If they want to celebrate the customs of another country(better yet move) then they can go to that country and do so. This is America and we should not have to be silent about what this country was built on.
It is truly a sad day in the United States that we can no longer as Americans celebrate our customs so that we don't hurt others feelings, and this is what my young nephew gave his life for, so our freedoms can be taken away. Let them go back to wherever they want and celebrate what they want, but stop people i.e.,, ACLU to let this happen,. I say as Americans we need to stand up and make noise, to STOP THIS, I am tired of being the silent majority being shoved into the closet.
