JON AND KATE PLUS EIGHT IS A FREAK SHOW DISASTER!
Is it any wonder the soap opera surrounding Jon and Kate plus 8 is about Jon cheating on his overbearing wife Kate?
Turning family life into freak show television only works if it’s actors and the stories are fiction.
Watching this family come apart at the seems is too painful for me to watch, but I guess I’m in a minority. I see that the show is a big hit, and that it will probably go on as Kate and Whoever Plus 8, with a brief intermission in which Kate is managing her large family by herself. Surely, there will be another man careless enough to get involved with her coming along soon.
I saw this happen once before. Google “An American Family” and see how television ruined another family. It was 19073 and the Loud family of Santa Barbara allowed cameras from PBS into their home for a documentary. (PBS! Imagine!) The cameras were actually rolling as one parent surprised the other by announcing their divorce.
Lance Loud, the eldest son, became somewhat famous. When he died of complications of AIDS when he was 50, he was remembered in Time Magazine as the man who famously said, “TV ate my family.”
What are Jon and Kate doing to their kids?
