Can’t You Take A Joker?

Posters of President Obama depicted as Heath Ledger’s The Joker are cropping up in cities like Los Angeles and Atlanta.
The poster shows Obama in the white makeup of the famous Batman villain, complete with green hair and frightening red lipstick.
“Socialism” is written beneath the picture.
And, of course, people are ranting and raving about it, calling it mean spirited and dangerous.
Was it mean spirited and dangerous to depict Ronald Reagan’s face covered in AIDS related open sores? I will never forget seeing those dispicable posters plastered all over San Francisco in the 80s.
Was it mean spirited and dangerous when Democratic operatives printed and posted pictures of George W. Bush’s face on the body of a Special Olympics athlete with the horrifying words “Voting for Bush Is Like Running In The Special Olympics: Even If You Win, You’re Still Retarded” insulting millions of mentally and physically handicapped Americans??
Probably no more mean spirited and dangerous than President Obama cracking a Special Olympics joke on national television on the Tonight Show.
What was more mean spirited and dangerous I wonder? When alleged comedian Wanda Sykes joked about hoping Rush Limbaugh’s kidneys would fail or when President Obama laughed at the joke?
And I seem to be the last person to remember Alec Baldwin’s insane rant (it was supposed to be a joke I am told) during the Clinton impeachment hearings that we should all march on Washington and KILL all the republicans…their families, too. Funny stuff, huh? The audience seemed to think so. And nothing was really made of it. It sure wasn’t labeled mean spirited and dangerous.
Some critics of the Joker poster seem to be more offended by the “Socialist” title than by even the demented makeup job.
But the left never really protested George W. Bush being labeled a terrorist…the top terrorist on the planet according to singer Harry Belafonte.
I hate to break it to you, Presidents for hundreds of years have been spoofed in political cartoons and satire. President Obama is not going to be the exception.
The Joker poster actually seems quite mild compared to my earlier examples, which go well beyond the bounds of satire, humor, and good taste.

This is offensive and distasteful there are more serious matter’s in the world today than to make fun of or mock a president. To the person who made this picture you need further education on your morals. As for the rest of us how quickly we forget what 911 taught us we should stand together as a nation. Stop being the victim and act to defend and protect. Stop and think America!!!!
While the image may be offensive in the sense that it reflects a negative opinion of the presidents character it is not morally wrong as the other examples sited. It doesn't insult other innocent groups like Special Olympians and Aids sufferers. I we as a society are going to criticize political figures it should be with equal moral standard. I do believe it is clear that the liberal left has begun to apply an unequal standard now that their party has control of the white house. It would be a sad day when people stop being critical of things that are offensive and I'm starting to see the conservative view having some very strong points about the integrity or lack of integrity of our new president. I have lost any respect for him and believe he has failed to keep his word on critical points of his election platform. As though he never meant them!
The deterioration of America is a VERY serious matter…though I love the double standard of your liberal logic. Let me try to understand this…it isn't ok to mock the president or just THIS president?
Where can I buy a case of posters?
I need a case of these to post everywhere… They depict the truth. Too bad the Dems are so thin skinned – LOL – they can dish it out, but can't take it. I want to rub it in their smug faces at every turn just to enjoy the angry reaction.
Im getting tired of all you conservative assholes bitching about the same things over and over.
First of all 39 million people is a whole lot of people that don't have access to healthcare. With a nation as wealthy as ours you would think that we could do much better when it comes to that. You inbred bastards rather bitch and moan instaed of contributing to a solution. The system as it stands is broken, but you wont realize that until its too late and you mother dies in front of you.
You had 8 years to solve the problem. You jacked it all up and now its our turn so go sit your stupid asses in the back of the bus and let us drive it for a while.
And stop your bitching about your tax dollars being spent wrongly. I pay alot more in taxes then you bastards and that is an honor to live in the greatest country in the world.
You bastards always want something for nothing.
Good day.
