JUMP, MR. PRESIDENT! JUMP!

President Obama is surrounded. The right wing hates his health care plan, but that’s not news. The Independents … let’s call them the American people… also hate his health care plan … and now it turns out the left is really really really ticked off at him.

The left relied on Obama’s promise for a public option in his health care reform, which was a stepping stone to universal health care coverage paid for by the government.

Then all of a sudden Obama runs into the town hall meeting buzzsaw… and Obama says maybe he’d dump the left’s public option in the health care plan. It was sacrosanct, and all of a sudden, well, maybe it’s not so important after all.

Of course he was just facing reality. Ken Conrad … democrat senator and grand pooh bah… said it ain’t happening.

The left went crazy. Nancy Pelosi said she’s not not not taking the public option out of her health care bills… Anthony weiner, the new york congressman, said he’s not voting for the bill if the public option is out and he thinks a hundred fellow lefties on congress won’t either.

Here’s reality… in april two thirds of Americans wanted the public option health plan. By June it was up to seventy two percent… but a month later in July support was slipping dramatically, and by August a majority of Americans hated it.

When Obama was selling it on the campaign trail, people loved the idea. When they got to see what they’d actually get, they flipped. They hated it.

That’s Obamacare… and that’s Obama’s world. His first big loss, and unless he bails out of this disaster completely it threatens to take down his presidency.

Jump, Mr. President, jump.
