A WHACK JOB FAMILY… BUT WERE THEY HOAXING US?
So why did the media go crazy with the runaway balloon and the possibility a six year old boy was aboard?
Well… the short answer is that we didn’t know he boy wasn’t on board. If he was… the story was huge.
So the question is … once we found he wasn’t on the balloon and was safe, why didn’t we drop it?
Well, that was when the story started getting good.
The family appears to be… well, strange, at best. They do reality shows. They make rap videos with their under ten year old boys… they make jetson vehicles in the back yard supposedly powered by a million volts and a plasma field.
I’m asking you… by what measure ISN’T the runaway balloon family a story?
True, it wasn’t the story we started out covering… but when you got a kid who might have been on the balloon puking live on the today show… and admitting dad, we did it for the show.
Case closed. This was definitely a story… a couple times over.
