When Betty White started trending on Twitter, there was some concern that the funny girl had died. Quite the contrary as it turns out. After a huge Facebook campaign, it was confirmed that Betty White will host “Saturday Night Live” on May 8^th. In other comedy news, hot twoppic of the day is Conan O’Brien, who announced that he will begin a  30-city comedy tour starting April 12th in Eugene, Ore. The title ? “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour,” referring to his settlement with NBC, which stipulates that he cannot appear on television again until after Sept. 1st. He will be joined on the tour by sidekick Andy Richter and the former “Tonight Show” band. The response was so immediately overwhelming that @ConanOBrien later tweeted We are now adding a second show in both NYC & Chicago. For that second show, I’ll be doing all Liza Minnelli songs.

Hot twoppic of the week is Chile, who experienced a major 6.9 aftershock on Thursday morning. A tsunami alert was reissued, but there were no immediate reports of damage, but Chile’s new president urged coastal residents to move to higher ground and congress was evacuated from the capital. The country is still recovering from the earthquake that hit Feb 27^th.

Hot twoppic of the moment is another actor who has died from an accidental overdose. The  Los Angeles Police confirmed that 80’s teen heartthrob Corey Haim died at the age of 38. The actor had a long history with substance abuse. Here in an interview with E! Entertainment. Haim is best know for his roles in films like The Lost Boys, Lucas and License to Drive. Hot twoppic of the moment is the highly  anticipated movie “Tron Legacy” which released its first online trailer today. Disney’s 3-D sequel to the classic 1982 science-fi film, “Tron”  looks flashy with some eye-popping special effects. The movie stars Garret Hedlund who plays a young Sam Flynn, and Jeff Bridges who plays Sam’s missing father Kevin. “House” hottie Olivia Wilde also stars. But some fans are already impatient. @matthewbmiller tweets The Tron Legacy trailer just brought me to tears. The ending is just so sad, you know, when it says “Coming December 17, 2010″.

Hot twoppic of the moment is International Women’s Day which is celebrated on the 8th of March every year. It started as a Socialist political event, but eventually became an occasion to garner political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide, and to celebrate their achievements.

In the spirit of celebrating women, your hot twoppic of the day and week is the Oscars, which aired Sunday night and for the first time awarded a woman the Best Director statue. Twitter is still all about “Alice.”  Tim Burton’s 3-D adventure “Alice in Wonderland” is in theaters and people are tweeting their thoughts of the film, which generally got a lukewarm critical reception. But that doesn’t seem to be stopping fans who have made “Alice” your hot twoppic of the moment.  @VennIrene tweets Alice in wonderland is now showing, my friends gave it a bad review though. Don’t really care, Johnny Depp and Tim Burton never failed me.

Hot twoppic of the moment is the company SharesPost who just released an index putting a monetary value on prominent social media sites. It put the value of Facebook at $11.5 billion and the value of twitter at $1.4 billion. The Wall Street Journal reported that Facebook will likely go public in 2011, and financial analysts predict that by then the company will be worth $40 billion, proving once more that social media is a booming business.

Today, you are encouraged to embrace your inner nerd — National Grammar Day is here, and your hot twoppic of the day. Twitter is speeding towards an huge  milestone — 10 billion tweets. The website should break the 10 billion mark in about one day, and web analysts are quite impressed with the achievement, which shows that Twitter  is still a social media force to be reckoned with. Hot twoppic of the day is rapper Lil Wayne, who the fates continue to keep out of prison. First his sentencing for gun charges was postponed by the judge so Lil Wayne could get a root canal. Back in court on Tuesday, a courthouse fire gave Lil Wayne another week of freedom.  He enjoyed it by making a surprise appearance at Jay-Z’s tour stop at Madison Square Garden. Lil Wayne is expected to spend a year behind bars at New York’s Riker’s Island.

Hot twoppic of the week is Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” which hits theaters this Friday. Your hot twoppic of the moment: a new survey by the the Pew Internet and American Life Project that says more Americans get their news from the Internet than from newspapers or radio. 75% say they hear of news through e-mail or updates on social media sites. The survey suggests  that Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter have made news an active experience, because people share links to news stories by e-mail, and post articles on their Facebook and Twitter account.

The youngster is already making a big splash in the music world, with his prominent appearance in the 25th anniversary remake of “We Are The World” to benefit Haiti.

The Canadian team is under investigation by the International Olympic Committee because of their celebration on ice, which included alcohol and cigars. The IOC is concerned the public celebration could damage the image of women’s hockey.

He just announced his invitation for his 16^th birthday party in LA which will have all sorts of activities, like paintball, sumo wrestling and laser tag. He hasn’t been in the public eye since his final “Tonight Show” episode on January 22^nd, but now he has a Twitter account. Twitter has been the target of some large scale phishing attacks recently, and Wednesday, tweets warned of another such attack. It spreads with a message saying, “This you????” which is followed by a link that sends the user to a fake Twitter login page. Your hot twoppic of the day is Italy, after an Italian court in Milan found three Google executives guilty of privacy violations because they did not act quickly enough to remove an online video showing four youths bullying a boy with Down Syndrome. Google called the decision “astonishing,” saying it “…attacks the very principles of freedom on which the Internet is built.”  It also sets a dangerous precedent for any Internet hosting service to be liable for all content. An appeal is planned.

Well… he FINALLY said something. Tiger Woods today speaking for the first time about his infidelity. …and he’s “DEEPLY SORRY” for his “irresponsible and childish behavior”. Since late November Woods has been linked to affairs with AT LEAST 9 women… Woods’ statement today was be closed off to many media outlets – only the Associated press, Reuters, Bloomberg and 6 members of the Golf Writers Association of America had been invited to view the statement live… though they had to agree that they would not ask ANY questions. All the other networks watched via a tv feed from about a mile away. Will he return to golf? Yes… when? He didn’t say.

As @DJLindJr TWEETS: I felt extremely proud to be an American last night while watching the #Olympics. What an emotional roller coaster.

The US Olympic team leads in medal totals – having earned 14 medals thus far, 5 of which are GOLD.

Leading the charge was superstar and defending champ SHAUN WHITE – Earning Olympic men’s half-pipe Gold yesterday. 23 year old White scored 48.4 out of 50 on his SECOND RUN after 46.8 in his FIRST, which by itself was enough OWN the gold. White’s “MOVE” for the gold winning run – the infamous Double McTwist 1260… White entered this years Olympics as a hot favorite having won his third consecutive gold in the X Games super pipe, last month.
