President obama needs to be a bit more like president Bush. He needs to morph into Barack W. Obama.

His trip to Asia proved why. Instead of taking his time to work out deals ahead of time, instead of being tough and standing up for American interests, President Obama decided he would go on another world tour, expecting cheers and adulation. Instead he got a slap across the face with brass knuckles, and was humiliated in virtually every stop. He didn’t help himself bowing to the Japanese emperor… and in China President Hu cleaned his clocked… giving him a lecture on American borrowing, and refusing to help Obama on Iran.

Obama was counting on his personal charm. The novelty has evidently worn off.

Now he needs to toughen up, and not expect his personal appeal will pay off in dividends for American interests.

When it came to foreign affairs, Bush’s critics said he was a bully, and Obama’s critics say he is a chump. Which hurts us more? The chump not the bully.

I never saw KISS back in the day. A classmate in high school was literally a FANATIC when it came to the legendary band, owning every record (vinyl, baby) and seeing every show he could.

Fast forward more than 20 years later–and 35 years after their debut album hit record stores–and I took in my first KISS concert.

And I took my 10-year-old son with me.

How’s that for the generations bonding together?

What a show it was. ARCO Arena in Sacramento (where the Kings play, as well as everything from Ice Capades to the Circus) was packed with KISS fans young and old.

There were kids as young as 4 (that I saw, anyway) and fans who looked to be senior citizens. And then there was me…rocking out to the painted faces and high heeled boots and fiery explosions from the stage.

I have to admit–Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley & company sure know how to entertain.

It was good old fashioned rock and roll. Bubble gum and silly at times? Absolutely. But what a performance.

If I didn’t know any better, I could have sworn I had found a tear in the space-time continuum and made it back in time to the 1970s and 80s. I heard some fans saying they were just as good today as they were back in the glory years.

Better late than never to see Paul Stanley glide over the audience to a platform in the middle of the arena. Or Gene Simmons getting pulled into the rafters for an amazing guitar solo from high above.

And yes, Simmons even gurgled fake blood like the good old days.

I hate to admit it. But it was pretty amazing to hear “Detroit Rock City” and “Rock ’n’ Roll All Night” and “Cold Gin” live and in person. It made me remember just how solid their hits were, many of them right from their first album in 1974.

Maybe it wasn’t the COMPLETE original lineup. But it was pretty darned cool.

It was refreshing after the vulgar performance by Nickelback recently to hear these veteran rockers bring the house down without ever shouting the F-word or insulting the audience or praising drugs.

Paul Stanley was gracious as usual and showed that the band really does appreciate the KISS ARMY of fans who have supported them (and made them zillions) over the years. That was nice to see.

Their encore was more impressive than most other groups can show for the entire performance.

I even bought a t-shirt.

Midlife crisis?

Nah. Just a chance to finally see what all the chatter was about.

And there wasn’t a disappointed fan in the bunch.

Hasan, Health care and now Geithner all 3 hrs.. I was stunned that those two Texas congressman git in his face and surprised that he impugned President Bush when shoved against the wall. Like Bill Clinton talking about UBL you just can;t win that fight especially when your hand are so dirty. He helped devise the bailout, the TARP and cut the deals we are currently living with!!

Saturday will not be a day of rest for congress..my hunch is Senator Reid knows he has the votes to begin the debate if he didnt’ the risk would be too great. Elections have consequences and actions effect elections which means the Dems have the power but the end is near at its current pace.

Presidents approval rating is 48 and falling Pelosi in the 30’s and Harry Reid might lose his election next year. Hey Mr President move to the middle and you’ll stiick around for 7 years

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani who, it is rumored, may be seeking the Senate seat now held by Kirsten Gillibrand, had no problem with our criminal justice system when it prosecuted Zacharias Moussouai in a trial where the one-time presidential candidate was called as a witness.  During that 2006 trial Rudy sang a very different tune, as Chris Wallace reminds him: (h/t Crooks and Liars)

Rudy Giuliani in 2006: “At the same time, I was in awe of our system,” the former mayor continued. “It does demonstrate that we can give people a fair trial, that we are exactly what we say we are. We are a nation of law. . .I think he’s going to be a symbol of American justice.”

But now that a Democratic administration is going to conduct civilian trials it’s simply “to satisfy left-wing critics,” says Giuliani.

Fred Thompson says the Afghanistan war has been lost, and nothing President Obama does will make a difference because he doesn’t have the will to win it. He also accuses the president of emboldening our enemies.

“It really doesn’t matter how President Obama divides the Afghan baby, how he splits the difference between McChrystal and Biden. Because the war has been lost,” Thompson said on his radio show today. “I say this because of one sad and simple fact. The president does not have the will and determination to do what’s necessary to win it. His heart’s not in it, and never has been. The Taliban knows it. Al Qaeda knows it. Our allies know it. And the American people know it.

“Our enemies are now emboldened and our friends are discouraged. We cannot prevail if the American people are not willing to make the sacrifices necessary for an extended effort. The case has not been made to them to justify this effort. The case can only be made by the president. This president is unable or unwilling to make that case,” Thompson said.

However, on a show that I’m slightly familiar with, “Hannity and Colmes,” Thompson attacked Senator Harry Reid on May 1, 2007, when Reid said the Iraq war was lost, agreeing with a woman questioning how Reid could say such a thing when there are troops in the field.

THOMPSON: Well, let’s talk about Senator Reid for a moment. Right before I came over here, I was sitting outside, getting a bite to eat, before we did our interview. A young woman [former Army captain] came up and asked if she could sit down and talk to me a minute. . . . I asked her what she thought about this. She said, “How in the world can anyone, any one of our leaders, declare war, declare that the war has been lost when we’ve got troops in the field? My friends are over there in the field. I know what they think about this.”

And, of course, it’s just like all other Americans think. The very idea that they would do this and undercut our efforts over there is unprecedented. And it’s not only unprecedented; it’s awful politics.

Thompson then even used the same language about Harry Reid he’s now using on Obama, accusing Reid of “encouraging our enemies.”

The KSM trial issue… bring the 9/11 mastermind to new York city for a civilian trial… turned ugly for the President Obama yesterday.

His Attorney General, Eric Holder, was absolutely stumped by a question from Senator Lindsey Graham yesterday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Graham asked Holder quote: Can you give me a case in United States history where an enemy combatant caught on a battlefield was tried in a civilian court?

Holder stammered, stumped by a question even NPR said he should have known was coming. He had no answer, so Graham answered for him. He informed Holder the answer is no, there is no case.

The likes of KSM have always been tried in a military court.

So why is the Obama administration insisting KSM go before a civilian court in New York? There can be only one answer: a political calculation that such a trial is good for Obama. Or he thinks it will be.

I think he’s made a bad bet. This is going to end up being a huge embarrassment for Obama… unless he backs out of his decision and sends KSM back to GITMO for trial.

A Lithuanian official and a former CIA official have told ABC News about a concrete structure built by the US where up to eight detainees at a time could be harshly interrogated.

“The activities in that prison were illegal,” said human rights researcher John Sifton. “They included various forms of torture, including sleep deprivation, forced standing, painful stress positions.”

As Laffy properly notes, the proper word for “harsh interrogations” is “torture”.  And see her links to more on blight in our detainee policies.

It appears president obama is on the cusp of making a decision to get out of Afghanistan and let the Taliban have it.

Tony Blankley said in his syndicated column that if Obama isn’t in it to win… win… he should bring the troops home.

And we know that Obama is against a multiyear commitment to Afghanistan.

Since we also know that nothing can be done quickly, the simplest of logic says Obama isn’t interested in winning—it’s too hard, takes too long—and he’s about to engage in some sort of dance that amounts to giving up, will be dressed up to look like something else.

In other words, Obama is about to surrender in Afghanistan, under some other name.

I say if he’s going to surrender, let’s call it that, and hand Obama a white flag he can wave at the Taliban.

If he’s going to give Afghanistan to the Taliban, get it over with.

And then let’s button down for the next Taliban al Qaeda attack on the American Homeland… and remember who is responsible.

I got the crazy idea recently to get one of those pocket HD cams and carry it everywhere I go.

So that is what I am doing. I literally have it by my side, just about 24/7.

Happens to me ALL the time. You can NEVER be too prepared for the unexpected.

Today, the President of the United States of America, while on an official trip to China, will sign an executive order directing the government not to waste money. He might as well order water to run up hill or command the earth to be flat. The federal government conceded last night that in the ten months of the Obama presidency, it has wasted NINETY-SIX BILLION TAXPAYER DOLLARS. No one can take the executive order he will sign seriously. The problem with government is that it is the negation of freedom. When it runs something like the Post Office or Amtrak, it does not need to reward investors or entice consumers. It just treats us like dumb sheep, and it will continue to do so until we make fundamental changes to assure that the word “free” returns to the free market.

What’s this ksm trial in new York city all about? It can’t be about justice for Khalid sheikh mohammad. After all, he’s already pled guilty in a military tribunal, which have been approved by the supreme court and the congress. Obama pulled the plug on that in order to bring ksm to new York. So… once again… why?

Let’s go back. Obama ran on being not bush, or the antidote to bush. His first year in office has been a nonstop litany of blame bush for this or blame bush for that.

By moving the ksm trial to civilian court in new York, obama has virtually ensured that the trial will not be about Khalid sheikh mohammad… but about bush and cheney and what the left believes were their war crimes.

So how does the calendar work with this trial? A year and a half of discovery motions takes us to September, 2011… then a year of trial brings us to closing arguments just before the November 2012 election.

What this is all about is obama’s plan to run for re election by running against bush again, no matter who the republican candidate actually is.

According to Washington Times Editor Emeritus Wes Pruden you can’t blame President Obama for not understanding America because his father was Kenyan and his mother “was attracted to men of third world (h/t Think Progress). Pruden believes that Obama “on the loose in a foreign land is enough to frighten protocol officers and embarrass the rest of us.”  And Pruden doesn’t miss a shot at Bill Clinton:

It took Bill Clinton months to learn how to return a military salute worthy of a commander in chief; like any draft dodger, he kept poking a thumb in his eye until he finally got it.

But Obama’s foreign roots can excuse him, says Pruden:

It’s no fault of the president that he has no natural instinct or blood impulse for what the America of “the 57 states” is about.
