A classmate in high school was literally a FANATIC when it came to the legendary band, owning every record (vinyl, baby) and seeing every show he could.

Fast forward more than 20 years later–and 35 years after their debut album hit record stores–and I took in my first KISS concert.

And I took my 10-year-old son with me.

How’s that for the generations bonding together?

What a show it was. ARCO Arena in Sacramento (where the Kings play, as well as everything from Ice Capades to the Circus) was packed with KISS fans young and old.

There were kids as young as 4 (that I saw, anyway) and fans who looked to be senior citizens. And then there was me…rocking out to the painted faces and high heeled boots and fiery explosions from the stage.

I have to admit–Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley & company sure know how to entertain.

It was good old fashioned rock and roll. Bubble gum and silly at times? Absolutely. But what a performance.

If I didn’t know any better, I could have sworn I had found a tear in the space-time continuum and made it back in time to the 1970s and 80s. I heard some fans saying they were just as good today as they were back in the glory years.

Better late than never to see Paul Stanley glide over the audience to a platform in the middle of the arena. Or Gene Simmons getting pulled into the rafters for an amazing guitar solo from high above.

And yes, Simmons even gurgled fake blood like the good old days.

I hate to admit it. But it was pretty amazing to hear “Detroit Rock City” and “Rock ’n’ Roll All Night” and “Cold Gin” live and in person. It made me remember just how solid their hits were, many of them right from their first album in 1974.

Maybe it wasn’t the COMPLETE original lineup. But it was pretty darned cool.

It was refreshing after the vulgar performance by Nickelback recently to hear these veteran rockers bring the house down without ever shouting the F-word or insulting the audience or praising drugs.

Paul Stanley was gracious as usual and showed that the band really does appreciate the KISS ARMY of fans who have supported them (and made them zillions) over the years. That was nice to see.

Their encore was more impressive than most other groups can show for the entire performance.

I even bought a t-shirt.

Midlife crisis?

Nah. Just a chance to finally see what all the chatter was about.

And there wasn’t a disappointed fan in the bunch.

Happens to me ALL the time. You can NEVER be too prepared for the unexpected.

My goal is to share these short form videos to all of you via my Listener Club page at www.club.foxacrossamerica.com.

So far I have a slithering snake on the way to school, a grasshopper who kicks me when I try to pick it up, one of the original munchkins from the Wizard of Oz, and me singing on the way home (a duet with Neil Diamond). How’s that for little oddball and unique moments?

Please message me through my Club page and let me know what types of things you’d like to see in future videos. They will only be available to members of the Club, so join today if you haven’t already!

This handy cam is pretty sweet. And it goes with me wherever I go.

Hey, you never know when you might run into Bigfoot. Those people NEVER have cameras when they need them!

“Well, it wasn’t really a BOW, you know…” was the jist of what we were told.

Now the President is seen (and caught on video) CLEARLY bowing to the Emperor of Japan on his visit to Asia.

There was NO mistaking it this time. It was not debatable. It was not the instant replay equivalent of debating whether the player was inbounds or out of bounds.

The President of the United States of America bowed to the Emperor of Japan. If he had bowed any more severely, he would have literally tipped over into the Emperor himself.

This is not a matter of respect. As a collage you can find on my Listener Club (club.foxacrossamerica.com) page demonstrates, world and domestic leaders greet the Emperor all the time. And none of them BOW the way Obama did. Actually, a handshake is more than sufficient.

Former President Bill Clinton was ridiculed even in the New York Times for his attempted bow to the Japanese Emperor. Unfortunately for him, he was not the Chosen One.

There is NO EXCUSE for this BLUNDER. The American President does not bow to royalty. This is just a messy and ridiculously preventable embarrassment.

But then, it was Michelle Obama who was casually patting the Queen at Buckingham Palace. Rule: You don’t touch the Queen like you would company coming over for the football game and cookout.

And we know from experience that the President is not opposed to more casual handshaking.

Who could forget that all too casual, basketball buddies handshake he gave dictator Hugo Chavez?

Someone needs to teach Obama protocol to prevent the next train wreck.

Zoinks. I’m sorry.

Well, not really. I mean, come on! I can understand how a day like the anniversary of 9-11-2001 come bring sorrow and depressing feelings.

But why should a Friday that happens to fall on the 13th ruin your day?

The irrational fear of this day is so pervasive that it has its own name. Those who suffer from it are known as Paraskevidekatriaphobics.

Wouldn’t SILLY be a simpler and easier to spell term?

Not to make fun, but your day was going just fine until you remembered it was Friday the 13th. Then you let the Law of Attraction work AGAINST you instead of FOR you.

That is to say, you FED the fear with related NEGATIVE THOUGHTS until they bred MORE negative thoughts. Next thing you know, you’ve walked under a dozen ladders on your way to work and seen black cats around every corner.

It’s the POWER OF SUGGESTION. Nothing more. It’s all self fulling prophecies.

The saddest part is that according to psychotherapist Dr. Donald Dossey, as many as 21 million Americans suffer from this fear.

Fight the fear. Stomp the superstitions.

Go out and have a GREAT day.

It is also potentially deadly.

That’s right–political correctness can, and IS, killing us.

Most recent case in point?

Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan.

We are finding out NOW that military doctors were quite worried about this man’s stability. They feared he was quite possibly psychotic.

Some even feared he was capable of doing exactly what he did last week in Texas–killing fellow soldiers.

One official even said, “Everybody felt that if you were deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, you would not want Nidal Hasan in your foxhole.

What the HECK?!?!

Talk about sitting on your concerns. Concerns that, if shared with the proper authorities, could very well have PREVENTED the Fort Hood massacre.

He was almost booted out of the program he was in, but it would have been “cumbersome and lengthy” a task.

Really? How does that task compare with informing the families of those butchered by Hasan?

Another reason for the hushed lips?

Well, that goes back to my theory that political correctness is killing us.

You see, many did not want to say anything out of the fear of being labeled a Muslim hater, a basher of Islam…a bigot.

This reminds me of the story of the airport official who felt BAD VIBES when he looked the lead hijacker of 9-11-2001 in the eyes and felt downright suspicious and scared. But he also did nothing. His inactions certainly facilitated the tragic events of that ill fated day.

As did the inactions of these military doctors and other officials facilitate the needless bloodshed and death of last week, in my opinion.

How can you fear a soldier will kill fellow soldiers and DO NOTHING?!?!

Political correctness is killing us.

What else will it take to convince you?

Today marks the 91st Anniversary of the armistice signing that ended World War I, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (do most kids still learn this I wonder?).

It is a day to thank those who served, whether family, friend, or complete stranger.

It is a day to thank those and remember those who aren’t with us anymore to take our firm handshake and understanding glance.

Never take our Veterans for granted. Never forget all that they did and still do to keep us safe and sound, to keep us the greatest country that has ever existed.

My father and father-in-law are both Vets.

My cousin flew fighter jets in the Air Force and his sister flew medi-vac copters in the first Gulf War.

I have uncles who served in World War II and Korea.

My wife has countless Vets on her side of the family, too.

I am sure you do, as well. Thank them for me.

And if you, yourself, are a Veteran reading this. God bless you and thanks you for all you have done in service to this great country of ours.

We need to remember our Vets EVERY DAY. But make it a point to tip your hat and thank them today, wherever you may find them.

So you aren’t fat, you have bad genes or are horizontally challenged.

You aren’t handicapped, you are handicapable. Whatever that means. If you aren’t handicapped, don’t ask for assitance or special parking spaces.

You aren’t paying taxes. You are just being patriotic. And they are just FEES anyway, right?

Once of the silliest and most dangerous politically correct alterations to reality came when the Obama Administration decided that the “War On Terror” had George Bush written all over it and it was time to tame the tiger.

So they renamed it the “Overseas Contingency Operation”–again, whatever THAT means.

Contrary to all the Kook-Aid drinkers, and there are millions, there IS a War On Terror. And it is STILL being waged.

Sometimes on our OWN SOIL.

Everyone was scared to death to say anything politically incorrect when the Fort Hood shooting took place last week. But my gut told me when the shooter had an Islamic name, it was no coincidence.

And now we know this guy was chatting with terrorists. He was a radical. He didn’t want Muslims fighting Muslims. (Imagine how World War II would have ended up if Christians decided they couldn’t bomb churches in Europe.)

And radical Imams around the world are praising his killing spree. A radical Muslim cabbie in New York is shooting his mouth off as to what a hero the shooter is for what he did and how his victims are rotting in hell. In most countries he would be put in a hole for saying such hateful things. But here we have the First Amendment. And that unfortunately protects filthy speech like that more than it protects prayer in school.

The Obama Administration doesn’t seem to get it. They can preach peace all they want. The radicals out there want to annihilate us.

Many of them live within our own borders.

Some of those even, apparently, wear the uniform of their country.

Wake up. Suck it in. Be real.

We are fighting a War On Terror. It still goes on.

It’s time to call it what it is and face it head on and seek victory.

EVER.

But our system does it all the time. It’s the humane thing to do, I guess, to let barbaric alleged humans back into the general population to continue preying on the innocent.

We’d be so much safer, overnight, if the people we KNEW were dangerous threats were kept away from the rest of us.

I grew up in San Francisco, across the Bay from where convicted molester and rapist Phillip Garrido held young Jaycee Dugard for EIGHTEEN YEARS.

We have discussed this case on my radio show before.

But now we have further proof that the system clearly failed on many fronts, according to a report released this week from the inspector general’s office.

Corrections officials blew it, frankly. They didn’t keep the proper tabs that they should have on Garrido. They missed, again and again, opportunities to discover the kidnapped, molested, and raped Jaycee.

Proper searches never took place. Information that could have led to Jaycee’s discovery was never followed up on. The report also found something that I have ALWAYS known was the truth–that the state’s GPS tracking system for convicted offenders offers the public a false sense of security.

Officials even blew an opportunity to investigate why a 12-year-old girl was present in the home of convicted child rapist during one visit.

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS??

But the real fault falls on the lap of a system that let Garrido out of prison in the FIRST PLACE after kidnapping and raping a woman in 1977.

The right thing to have done? Lock the monster up forever and ever.

But instead he was let out.

Jaycee Dugard’s life was altered horribly because of that disastrous decision. Garrido fathered two children with Jaycee during her captivity.

Those three innocent girls were robbed of all innocence and happiness.

Those are scars that a report, unfortunately, can never appropriately do justice to.

Question is: Will we FINALLY learn anything from reports like this? There are currently more than 6,000 paroled sex offenders in the state of California alone.

Will one of them be the next Garrido? How many more victims will fall prey to these criminals because of a failed system?

The people who let the barbarians out should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, in my opinion.

But we have a system that protects the bad guys more than the innocent children.

It’s the sad, damned truth.

Well, I CAN. But generally speaking, I WON’T be.

Ever get requests from people on Facebook to be their fans?? Or else they suggest you become a fan of some person or group or place you have never even heard of?

Imagine getting about 50 of those a DAY.

I say no to nearly ALL the requests. I say YES to very few. The request has to be about a place or person I already KNOW of. And I have to FEEL it. I can be a supporter of someone without necessarily being a FAN.

Heck, I don’t even have a fan site of my own. And that was intentional. Most people on the radio or television don’t have “friend” pages on Facebook. At least not ones open to the general public.

I didn’t want to be like that. I wanted to consider listeners as Facebook “friends”…not people looking up to me because I am on the radio.

So, anyway. Don’t be mad if I won’t be your fan. It’s nothing personal.

Fans are temporary anyway.

I’d rather be your friend.

Still nothing.

And yesterday the White House confirmed that the decision is STILL weeks ahead?? Ummm. Sorry, but HOW MANY weeks??

I want every liberal who HAMMERED Bush for standing around “too long” in that classroom when he was whispered about the tragic news of September 11, 2001 to APOLOGIZE.

After all, it IS Bush’s fault, right?

Our precious baby girl, Gingy, turns 2 today.

I remember the ultrasound that showed we were having a sweet baby girl, although she never cooperated by posing for the cameras.

I remember like it was just yesterday when I was on pins and needles wondering if the call would come during a show that it was time to run to the hospital.

I also remember when our oldest daughter was that age…and when she was so tiny and helpless as a baby.

Two years have gone by? Wow.

My mother was alive then and I thank God she was around to welcome her newest grandchild. She and Gingy were like two peas in a pod. I still get blue around the time of the kids’ birthdays because I wish she were here to hug and kiss the kids and to sing Happy Birthday with the rest of us.

But my latest studies into the world beyond this one reassures me and has me convinced beyond ANY doubt that she is, indeed, still with us and will be singing in spirit with all of us.

Gingy was so tiny. Now I can barely carry her to the car without breaking my back. Her hair is still short, but full and beautiful.

She looks like her lovely mother, even though many people insist she is a mini-Spencer.

Thanks to my boss for the day off. Thanks to Mary Walter for filling in for me today. And thanks, Gingy, for all the smiles, love, and stubborn ways that we wouldn’t trade for all the gold in the world.

You are truly a miracle baby. I REALLY figured that out when you started smiling at a MONTH OLD. I didn’t believe my wife and the kids, since she always stopped of course, the moment I went to verify.

But yes, wouldn’t you know it. She was SMILING. Not gas, not grimacing. SHE WAS SMILING at us. Even the doctors were shocked. It was rare, but not unheard of, for kids to start that young.

And she has never stopped.

Keep smiling always, baby girl. You will always be Daddy’s Gingerbread Cookie.

I love you with all my heart. Mommy does, too. Abuelo and all of your siblings. Nana and Pop and the whole gang.

And that guardian angel you feel watching over you?

That is your Abuela smiling down upon your every move.

Happy Birthday, sweet Gingy.

I couldn’t believe how much stuff they had! Some of it was pretty creative. Some of it pretty disgusting and downright distasteful.

But you couldn’t accuse them of missing ANYTHING.

We were pleased when the kids all chose traditional Halloween fare as opposed to a lot of the trendier options out there that most kids pick based on the tastes of the moment.

In order from youngest to oldest, we have Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz (Gingy loves the dress mommy made her and the ruby shoes), a brave knight, an old school vampire, ,a classic Boris Karloff style mummy, Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas, and a 13-year-old (well, he is choosing not to dress up this year).

Mom and I are dressing up, too.

My beautiful wife is going as a vintage witch (the pretty kind as opposed to the Margaret Hamilton variety).

I am going as Jason Hawes.

HUH?? Who? What?

Yes, Jason Hawes. The lead investigator and founder of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS). Anyone who is a fan of GHOST HUNTERS on the SyFy Channel knows who I am talking about.

I even grew a goatee like Jason. HAHA. It’s starting to grow on me. Get it?? GROW ON…never mind.

So I ordered a TAPS t-shirt like the ones they wear on the show, armed with a KII EMF detector in one hand and a flashlight in the other. Since I am a ghost hunter as well as a big mouth on the radio, I thought the costume idea would be fun and different. Hopefully there will be plenty of ghosts to hunt on Halloween.

Hope everyone has fun plans of one sort or another for this Halloween. Stay safe.

Have fun and enjoy it!

I am hell bent against swine flu vaccines for my children. But would I go as far as monitoring them 24/7 when needed?

ABSOLUTELY.

I read an article today about Best Buy selling a tracking/gps device that parents can attach to a child’s backpack or lunch box, among other places. It allows a parent to set parameters as to where the child should be and at what times and the parent is alerted when the child deviates from their defined itinerary.

The article said that some “techies” are angry at the technology.

Really?? ANGRY?? I bet NONE of those nerds has any children.

ANGRY?? You know what makes ME angry?? Reading about sweet, innocent children being abducted, killed, and shoved into a shallow grave or landfill.

THAT makes me ANGRY.

I will go as far as finally coming out in favor of a microchip for our children. It would have to be something that could be removed at age 18. No one is talking about infringing on a child’s privacy. But honestly, most of the rights kids THINK they have aren’t real rights at all. I don’t think this would be a violation of their civil rights, either.

Hey, we chip our silly pets. Why wouldn’t we do that to our CHILDREN?? Sometimes I think our society respects dogs and cats more than it respects children.

If your car gets stolen, you’d love to have a tracking device attached to it in order to get it back, yes? Hell, we install those crazy and annoying alarms so that…gasp…no one steals your precious CAR.

But…not for your KIDS?? If these missing children’s parents got an alert the MOMENT they strayed off course…think of how many could be saved??

Think young Jaycee who spent EIGHTEEN YEARS in the custody of a MONSTER would have liked to have been found sooner?? Imagine know IMMEDIATELY when your child has vanished! Not 2 hours later…not 12 hours later. KNOWING IMMEDIATELY.

It’s time to keep closer tabs on our children.

Too bad if that makes the techies and the nerds angry.

I have always been a healthy skeptic when it comes to the realm of the unknown.

But all it takes is full body apparitions, disembodied voices on tape (and heard by everyone in the room), and crashing sounds (with no source) just a foot from where you are standing to make a healthy skeptic into a firm believer.

There IS something beyond this world that we live and play and work in everyday. There just is. I used to get angry at skeptics who just refuse to believe, but more and more I just kind of feel sorry for them.

Sorry. Not trying to offend you if you are among this group. But I really do feel sorry for you. You are the ones who could have a full scale spaceship hover over San Francisco and suck everyone up into the Cosmos and still insist it’s a special effect. The ghost of King Tut could walk right through you and into your fridge and you will insist it’s a hologram.

That’s why I always find it funny when people say to me “Where’s your ghost pictures?? Where’s the video evidence??” I laugh because even if I DID have such proof, they would discount it anyway!!

So I am ALMOST at the point where I try not to even prove it to the hardcore skeptics anymore. They won’t believe because they don’t WANT to believe. They are AFRAID to believe.

After all, coming to the reality that your mother’s spirit really IS right in front of you and can even SPEAK to you in a recorded voice that everyone can hear is a frightening and sobering and life altering prospect. Believe me, this stuff has changed MY life and how I live it.

This past weekend, I took part in my first official private home investigation. I am a new member of a fantastic team of ghost hunters just outside of Sacramento.

I wish I could reveal more details but since it IS a private home we are dealing with, we must and should provide privacy for the family involved.

This isn’t science fiction or a movie. These are real people with real concerns and hopes and they have to be treated with respect and dignity.

The case involved one particular family member having middle of the night encounters with shadowy figures hovering over their bed. This happened to them several times.

Their significant other reported seeing a shadow dart from one bedroom into this particular bedroom on many nights.

A dual pane window mysteriously shattered from the inside while no one but the family member was in the home. The bedroom happened to be connected to the same person (and was in their master bedroom).

So we got briefed on the case, a procedure they condense into 5 seconds on the ghost television shows to save time. Their is EXTENSIVE research that goes into an investigation before we even arrive.

Who lives in the house? Who is the activity happening to or around? Ages? Drugs involved? Alcohol? History of mental illness? ALL of these factors and MORE have to be taken into account.

Contrary to what many skeptics assume about ghost hunters, the first thing we TRY and WANT to do is DEBUNK the phenomenon at hand. And we did with some things in this case, but not others. For instance, the vacuum on a doorway wasn’t all that secure. So we determined that the most likely explanation was one of the children or adults THINKING they had closed the door all the way. But in fact, leaving it open just enough for it to open later…seemingly by an unseen force.

We LIKE debunking things. We WANT to come up with logical explanations for these things.

But sometimes, we can’t.

The excitement and intrigue on Saturday night focused on the master bedroom which has been the hot spot for most of the paranormal activity. Each team member rotated from room to room and spent time doing EVP work, among other things.

EVP stand for electronic voice phenomenon. This is something that dates back quite a long time. It is the phenomenon in which a voice or a sound not heard out loud is somehow imprinted and recorded on recording devices, most commonly a typical digital voice recorder used for recording lectures or dictation.

Trust me. It is very frightening and sobering the first time you hear a disembodied voice refer to you by name, recorded in a room NO ONE was in. No radio on. No open window. No hallway chatter. NO EXPLAINABLE SOURCE FOR THE VOICE OR SOUND. These voices can be captured just about anywhere, inside or outside.

The voice will just “pop” out of nowhere. Sometimes it will come as a result of an EVP “session” which is what you see on the ghost hunting shows when the investigator will run the recorder while conducting an interview to the otherworld.

“Is there anyone in this room with us right now? Do you wish to speak with us? Please make yourself known. Why are you here? Is there something you want to convey to the family who lives here?” That type of stuff. Generally it should last between 5-15 minutes at a time. I have heard that when spirits want to talk to you, they WILL. It is not unknown to get an EVP within seconds of recording, especially when questions are asked.

So I headed into the master bedroom, set one of my multiple digital voice recorders on the bed and took out my KII.

A KII is an EMF detector. You see this on shows like GHOST HUNTERS. It’s the one that has a series of lights from left to right, going from green on the left to red on the right.

Although it is used primarily to detect EMF (electromagnetic fields) in a location to determine power sources, unsafe levels, etc. it is used by many ghost hunters because it is believed that a ghost affects the EMF in their surrounding area, especially when they manifest. This is why it is believed that ghosts can interfere with lights, making them blink, as well as wreak havoc on electronic devices, etc.

It is also believed that they drain energy from their surroundings, so all of this can affect EMF levels.

So, anyway, I put the KII on the bed.

Mind you, one of the first things we do is sweep every room for a “baseline reading” of EMF levels. In other words, we KNOW that the fridge or computer or television or microwave is setting the levels to the higher points BEFORE we investigate. We KNOW what is setting these detectors off and what is NOT.

I had swept the room prior to the following series of events, as had other investigators. EMF was NON-EXISTENT in this particular room. At least in measurable amounts.

Within moments of conducting the EVP session, the KII started going bananas. I mean REALLY lighting up. I had never seen such activity in my ghost hunting experience (which granted is limited thus far) and only one other investigator had seen such active response from it under these circumstances.

And what was most amazing was that it reacted to our questions and our presence. I would say “Could you show me it’s really you doing this by lighting it up again?” or “How about making the yellow or orange level light up?”

And guess what? It DID respond. When I asked for yellow, I got yellow. When we pushed it to really light up, it did. It was simply ASTOUNDING.

The team and family members were amazed as well. This was the room where the bulk of activity was happening to this family member. And here she stood watching the meter going NUTS right on the bed she sleeps in every night.

The activity and responses finally faded and disappeared. Spirits use energy and eventually, they can get tired and worn out just like the living. That is our belief anyway.

What is also amazing about this session I conducted is that at one point I speak to the spirit that may be present and say something like “I need to double check something real quick…but keep lighting this up and make sounds if you like…”

I did NOT hear ANY sound following my request for a sound.

But in the evidence review for that session, I discovered a CLEAR and DEFINITE knocking. TWO KNOCKS, in fact. RIGHT AFTER I said please make sounds if you like.

That is an example of an EVP involving not a voice, but a sound. Typically a knock or series of knocks like we captured on not one, but TWO audio sources.

There are many other factors I cannot reveal here because of the sensitive nature of the privacy involved for this family. But all the pieces seemed to come together so nicely.

Here we had the master bedroom where the bulk of activity was taking place. We had shadow figures seen by the boyfriend darting into this room. We had the woman herself SEEING the shadow over her bed. We had the KII essentially having a spiritual conversation with us for several minutes ON THE SAME BED. The window had broken from the INSIDE just a few feet away in the master bathroom.

AND we captured the EVP of TWO KNOCKS that were not made by ANYONE in the house at the time. I was the only one in that part of the house. The other team members and family members were all the way on the other side of the house when I was doing the session.

PLUS the knocks were NOT heard out loud.

Taking ALL of this together? We are convinced we had spiritual activity and contact that night. No doubt about it.

In the end, we think we helped this family transition from a private tragedy that seemed to be the source of the paranormal activity to a sense of well being and peace and closure to some extent.

We will most likely go back for follow up investigations or merely to touch base and see how the family is doing.

After all, beyond the thrill of the hunt and the love and passion for the hobby/job, there is the REAL reason behind all of it.

To help people.

The living and the dead alike.

Although it was still being investigated during our investigation, the grim reality has been established.

Police are confirming that body to be that of missing 7-year-old Somer Thompson, who disappeared Monday on her way mile long walk home from school in Florida.

I have been blogging for a while now. And this is only one of a couple of blogs that have made me cry as I write it. I have had to step away a few times, actually feeling as if I would become physically ill from this story and its tragic end.

I have a son that just turned 7 last week. I have kids who are 8, 10, almost 11, and 13. And a beautiful baby girl who will turn 2 at the end of this month.

The part in the story of Sheriff Rick Beseler calling Somer’s mother last night and telling her the grim news broke my heart. I can’t even imagine being the one to have to let a parent know that, let alone BEING that parent.

So a beautiful little girl was thrown into a landfill like a piece of debris and the maniac who did it will most likely do it again. And again. We need to catch these maniacs. We need to throw the book at them. HARD. No parole. No rehab. Shackles and a jumpsuit and an iron door to stare at forever.

And now I just read a story about a 9-year-old girl, Elizabeth Olten, who has been missing since last night after walking home from a friend’s house. ONLY A QUARTER OF A MILE AWAY!

Our kids aren’t even safe walking 1/4 of a mile from a friend’s house? Or a mile from SCHOOL in the company of siblings and friends?

WHAT…THE…HELL…IS…HAPPENING.

If I were a drinking man, I’d go have a stiff one right about now.

But I am not.

So the best I can do is put my head in my hands some more.

And continue to make it my eternal quest to protect my children against all dangers whenever possible and pray to God that they are safe when I cannot.
